Behind the Scenes tour of the Kotzschmar Organ

Behind the Scenes tour of the Kotzschmar Organ

One of only two municipal organs in the U.S., Portland's Kotzschmar Organ, located in Merrill Auditorium, is so impressive that you need to see it up close to believe it. This versatile instrument has 330 keys, more than 7,000 pipes, and is the only instrument in Maine that you can stand inside of with dozens of your friends. Get an inside look at one of the greatest pipe organs in the world with this special event, and discover how the Kotzschmar came to live in Portland, while enjoying cocktails on the Merrill stage. Portland's Municipal Organist James Kennerley completes the evening as he brings the Kotzschmar to life with a performance just for Contemporaries members.
