How can the stories we tell transform ourselves and our communities?
How can we cultivate the tool of our imagination through writing and visual art to envision new versions of ourselves and our world?
In this noontime talk, Jude Marx will explore the power of storytelling through visual art and poetry to change how we see ourselves and the world. Jude draws from a decade of experience as an educator, as well as their lifelong creative practice as a poet and artist.
Jude Marx (they/them) was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, and now resides in southern Maine. They have written poetry since they were seven years old, later competing nationally on Albuquerque’s city-wide youth slam poetry team. Jude teaches at The Telling Room, a nonprofit that teaches and publishes creative writing by young people across Maine. Jude is the winner of the 2024 Maine Transgender Poetry Anthology Contest and a 2025 Maine Literary Award for poetry. Their poems appear in New Words Press and Monster Beauties: A Maine Transgender Poetry Anthology.
Join us every Friday at noon for a 30-minute gallery talk with curators, artists, and community voices exploring art, the PMA Collection, and creative practice.
