“I used metal tooling techniques to emboss into both sides of a piece of metal foil, stretching and raising the metal and indenting it back in. Then I painted the foil with India ink and burnished some of the ink off after it had dried. Next I used colored pencil to expand the shapes that I had pressed into the foil out into the border of black paper. I tried to show unity between the foil square and the black paper so it looks like the patterns expand out.”
