Nora T., Hands That Hold The World

February 21, 2024

“The objective handed to me when beginning this project was to find a word in a book and create something surrounding the term. “Creative constraints”. When scanning through my favorite poetry novel, I found my finger lying over the word: hands. I wrote down everything that I possibly could, from fingernails to skin, to holding and kissing, to everything. I found myself focusing on the ideas of different expressions of love. This idea focuses back to a piece I’ve created recently. This past piece centered around the poetry of the action of peeling an orange. And the love behind it. I decided to make this piece a continuation. This piece is acrylic on a matte board. Using new and old brushes, and wide and short strokes. I faced this painting toward the light as I chipped away at the idea that inhabited my brain. This painting is the embodiment of the idea: Who is to hold the hands that hold the world?”
