Homer High School Fellows Program

Are you a creative thinker who loves the idea of spending part of your summer in an art museum and on the coast? Our Homer High School Fellowship program is a part-time, paid, eight-week summer fellowship for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

This summer, strengthen your community, discover talents you didn’t know you had, and develop confidence in your voice at the PMA and the Winslow Homer Studio, using the museum’s collection and special exhibitions as wellsprings of inspiration. Over the summer, teens will explore the creative process through art-making, studio visits, artist talks, intensive gallery time, and team-building exercises.

The teens in this program are part of a cohort that will provide the PMA with a youth perspective on interpretive, curatorial, engagement, and marketing materials and strategies to promote access, equity, and belonging at the PMA. Fellows will research art history, lead gallery tours, develop a marketing plan, and coordinate and facilitate a large-scale teen event with mentorship from PMA staff and professional artists. As a result, fellows will increase their confidence, empathy, and leadership capacity and be exposed to art and museum career pathways.

The PMA seeks to be an incubator for future arts leaders and involved community members. We invite all teens interested in a summer of art, friendship, personal growth, and professional development to apply today!

Applications for the 2026 Homer High School Fellowship Program will open in March 2026

Homer High School Fellows is supported by the Lunder Homer Education Fund at the Portland Museum of Art.
