2:00 PM — 7:00 PMWatch the art of intaglio printmaking come to life as a printmaker Winslow Trainum inks an etched copper plate, wipes it by hand, and feeds it through a pin press, revealing an image held in the grooves of plate. This is the process at the heart of Winslow Homer: Painter, Etcher. Working from his studio at Prouts Neck, Homer produced a striking series of prints that reveal technical mastery and his continued fascination with the sea. This demonstration brings that same process into full view, so you can see exactly what it takes to pull an image from plate to paper. A limited number of prints will be available as a take-home souvenir. Winslow Trainum (Winslow Loves You!) is a community-based printmaker born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, while currently working out of Portland, Maine. Throughout his work Winslow uses experimental printmaking techniques with an emphasis on etching and silkscreen to provide proof of magic in printmaking and tell stories of unreal dimensions. In his senior year at Maine College of Art & Design Winslow worked alongside Ramey Mize, PMA’s former Assistant Curator of American Art and curator of Winslow Homer: Painter, Etcher as a curatorial intern, using his expertise in etching to consult and collaborate on the exhibition.
