Jordia Benjamin, Indigo Arts Alliance

My background is in museum education, thus I was able to bring the perspective of how the work was going to be in conversation with the public and potential interactive engagements within the exhibition. The public voice is just as important and vital to the impact of an exhibition.

Jordia Benjamin, Deputy Director at Indigo Arts Alliance, brings a vital perspective in community engagement and museum education for Passages in American Art. Benjamin's passion for cultivating creative environments for artistic communities as well as her commitment to equity, inclusion, empowerment, and advocacy for spaces of color is embodied in the work that she does at Indigo Arts Alliance.

“The opportunity to see the extensive museum collection was truly impactful, especially the recent acquisitions of Wabanaki indigenous artists,” shares Benjamin. “Knowing that these artists will be prominently displayed via will be a thoughtful installation of these works to ground the galleries as the terminology of American art is explored.”
