Meet our artists and educators

Sarah Timm, Director of Education at Maine Maritime Museum, oversees the museum's learning and engagement to connect audiences with Maine's waterways past, present, and future. If it floats or swims, Sarah has likely taught aboard it or about it. Her favorite marine lifeforms are bioluminescent plankton.

Jordan Carey is a Bermudian designer and artist based in Portland, Maine. In January 2020, Carey launched Loquat (@loquatshop), a fashion and lifestyle brand focused on empowering marginalized people. The loquat plum was first brought to Bermuda by the British and symbolizes displacement, migration, and community for Carey. The sentiments representing the Bermuda Loquat's story inform the brand's sense of community, collaboration, and storytelling.

Heather Livingstone is an artist and educator with 20 years experience teaching art in Maine public schools, most recently at Presumpscot Elementary in Portland. She has conducted research in the field, including an MFA study dealing with themes of gender, curriculum engagement, and student motivation, and has presented her work at the national level. Heather is passionate about making art education accessible for all students by making relevant connections to their lived experience, diverse backgrounds, and personal interests.
