PMA Family Day: OK Go Video Jukebox and Tinkering with Breakwater School

PMA Family Day: OK Go Video Jukebox and Tinkering with Breakwater School

Part of February School Vacation Week

February 21, 22, and 23, 11:30 a.m.

Rock and pop band OK Go have attracted a dedicated following as much from their wildly inventive music videos as their infectious songs. We've put together an hour-long program of some of the band's most ingenious music videos paired with behind-the-scenes footage to show you how they made them. We'll take a journey through optical illusions, carefully choreographed robotic motor scooter drone performances, zero gravity, and Rube Goldberg-ian reaction machines.

Inspired by the creative DIY stuff in the videos? After watching the OK Go program, join the Breakwater School's Tinkering Program to play with some gadgets. One, called a harmonograph, allows you to make your own geometric drawing with a pendulum. In another apparatus, you can combine circuits to make unexpected things happen. The program runs from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day.

Family Days are made possible in part by the Peggy L. Osher Education Endowment at the Portland Museum of Art.
