LAIKAFest: The Boxtrolls

Portland, Oregon-based production company LAIKA has continually pushed the boundaries of craft and imagination in stop-motion animation over the course of four imaginative feature films, CORALINE, PARANORMAN, THE BOXTROLLS, and KUBO & THE TWO STRINGS.  For our Winter Break Family Series we celebrate this gorundbreaking imagination factory with a retrospective of their feature work to date.

Orphaned at infancy, Eggs (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) was raised by Boxtrolls, underground dwellers who scavenge the streets of Cheesebridge by night. A surprise encounter with a human girl (Elle Fanning) leads to unexpected discoveries about his mysterious past and his imprisoned real father.
