21ST Annual Animation Show of Shows

Returning to theaters across North America this fall, the Annual Animation Show of Shows presents an exciting array of thought-provoking, touching and funny animated short films from around the world. Curated by producer Ron Diamond, the Annual Animation Show of Shows treats audiences to the best work done by students and professionals during the past year, including many films that go on to receive Oscar nominations. Among the highlights in this year’s program are the breathtaking and poignant Swiss film Le renard et l’oisille (The Fox and the Bird) by the Guillaume brothers, French director Joanna Lurie’s mysterious and transcendent Le jour extraordinaire (Flowing through Wonder), and the moody and unsettling student film Hounds, made at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem by Amit Cohen and Ido Shapira.

For 21 years, the Annual Animation Show of Shows has been presenting a highly selective “best of the best” program of new and innovative short films to appreciative audiences at animation studios, schools and, since 2015, theaters around the world. During the first 20 years, 40 of the films showcased in the Annual Animation Show of Shows went on to receive Academy Award nominations, with 11 films winning the Oscar.
