The Telling Room's Young Writers & Leaders is a free, after-school literary arts program that provides creative writing guidance, college preparation assistance, and leadership experience to international, multilingual high school students from the Greater Portland area. The 45 students are selected through a competitive application process and bring their stories from Afghanistan, Angola, Burundi, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jamaica, Kuwait, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, United States, and Vietnam.

The PMA is proud to host the Telling Room's narrative reading for this remarkable group of young people. We hope you'll join us for these true stories about love, loss, fear, bravery, vulnerability, and discovery from some of Portland's dynamic new voices.

Each reading will be followed by a Q&A with the authors.

This program is presented by The Telling Room. For more information visit tellingroom.org
