January Family Day: Personality Portraits

January Family Day: Personality Portraits

This month we are inspired by the striking portraits of American photographer Richard Avedon in Richard Avedon: Portraits, 1952-1970, on view through February 17, 2019. While Avedon’s iconic portraits focus on the sitter’s face and clothing, he also sought to capture their personality. Come explore how to assemble a mixed-media portrait that shows a person’s character without depicting their face! What colors, symbols, or patterns will you use?
