Be among the first people in Portland to appreciate The Coast & the Sea: Marine and Maritime Art in America—the big winter exhibition at the PMA, which showcases a wide range of artworks and artifacts from America’s storied history with the ocean. Work by artists such as Samuel Colman, Sanford Gifford, John Frederick Kensett, and Francis Augustus Silva display how the ocean was a catalyst for the economy, a barrier between the old and new worlds, a battleground for warfare, and a source of both danger and leisure.

Join fellow Director's Circle members for a preview of this exhibition, with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

This exhibition has been organized by the New-York Historical Society.
