For over 25 years, architects and designers from around the world have been coming to Portland to present at Architalx.

The mission of Architalx is to broaden awareness and understanding of architecture, landscape architecture and design by sponsoring lectures that foster evocative and creative dialogue within the design community and with the general public. Our goal is to enrich our community by gathering speakers from across the globe to bring world-class ideas and design to Maine.

6 p.m. Thursday, April 20: Gena Wirth
Gena is the Design Principal at SCAPE. Trained in landscape architecture, urban planning and horticulture, Gena draws from her interdisciplinary training to create ecologically rich and culturally relevant landscapes from the infrastructural scale to the site level. Gena leads the design on several significant projects in the office.

6 p.m. Thursday, April 27: Elizabeth Whittaker
Elizabeth is a recipient of the 2015 AIA Young Architects Award. She graduated from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design with Distinction where she received numerous awards during her graduate studies including the Core Studio Prize, the Faculty Design Award, and the John E. Thayer Award. She has taught design studios in several architecture programs including Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Northeastern University, the Boston Architectural College, and Harvard University (GSD), where she was also Lead Faculty in Architecture in the Career Discovery Program from 2011-2015.
