2016 Bernard Osher Lecture

"Museum Growth in the 21st Century: the Perils and Promise of Expansion" with Robin Pogrebin, New York Times Culture Reporter

New location!

"Museum Growth in the 21st Century: the Perils and Promise of Expansion," the 2016 Bernard Osher Lecture with Robin Pogrebin, will now take place at the Bernard Osher Foundation Auditorium at the PMA.

There are more than a dozen major arts organizations in the process of ambitious expansion and reinstallation projects, including the PMA. What are the factors driving museums to rethink their buildings and collections? How do priorities like accessibility and audience engagement inform a museum’s expansion, addition, or reinstallation? Join us for this special lecture featuring Robin Pogrebin, staff reporter at The New York Times, where she covers art and architecture for the Culture Desk. Ms. Pogrebin has also written articles for publications including Architectural Digest, Vogue, Town & Country, Departures and New York Magazine; her work has been featured in several anthologies; and she teaches writing to graduate students at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.

Tickets are $20; $10 for PMA members.

The annual Bernard Osher Lecture Series is made possible by the Peggy and Harold Osher Endowment at the Portland Museum of Art.
