The Contemporaries

The Contemporaries are a young, vibrant group of art enthusiasts at the forefront of PMA's future.

A group for PMA supporters ages 21 to 45, the Contemporaries are looking for new ways to engage with the arts. Individually, they appreciate the ever-changing cultural landscape of Portland and take pride in its burgeoning national reputation. Collectively, they embody the new generation of museum leadership—working together to create something extraordinary.

The Contemporaries receive exclusive membership benefits and access to special programming and events. There are always two large social events—The Winter Bash (February) and the Midsummer Party (July)—which have a different theme each year. In addition, there are several smaller, educational and art-focused events throughout the year. Regular examples include a behind the scenes tour with a PMA curator, a visit to a private collection or gallery, a special event in partnership with another cultural organization, or an evening with artists or in a studio environment.

In addition to these events and programs, the Contemporaries enjoy:

  • Gallery talks with artists and curators
  • Private collection tours
  • Studio visits
  • Memorable parties
  • PMA admission for a full year (two adults and children 18 & under)
  • Four free admission passes each year for your guests
  • 10% discount at the PMA Store (20% during special holiday shopping days)
  • Discounts on lectures, concerts, classes, children's workshops and adult courses
  • Subscription to the Inside the Circle, the PMA Members' Magazine, with advance notice of exhibitions and programs
  • Reciprocal membership benefits at 41 major art museums across the country
