The Telling Room presents: Young Writers and Leaders Narrative Reading

March 28th and March 30th, 4 to 6 p.m.

Join us for live stories from The Telling Room's Young Writers & Leaders, an afterschool writing program that recently won a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from the White House for exemplary arts education programming. For eight weeks, these international high-school students from Portland and South Portland have been working one-on-one with Telling Room writing mentors to create compelling personal narratives.

You'll hear the story of a ten-year-old girl living in Iraq who becomes determined to master Tae Kwon Do; an account of a fight that breaks out at a refugee camp when a young boy tells his friends he's leaving Kenya for the U.S; and the tale of a Syrian boy who fosters three snails after accidentally stepping on their mother. 

Each reading will be followed by a Q&A with the authors.
