This March, the PMA partners with the Portland Children’s Film Festival for a movie-oriented Family Day. The PCFF was conceived and organized by the East End Community School parents and teachers who believe in the value of bringing the community together to create and celebrate film. The PMA will honor children’s creativity through art and filmmaking on Saturday, March 28. This PMA Family Day includes hands-on activities from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a screening of The Boy and the World at 11 a.m., a 1 p.m. tour of the Youth Art Month exhibition, and from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., a film-inspired art activity with the folks from Side x Side. Mix and match, visit the galleries, and make your itinerary!
Side x Side ignites academic excellence in education through comprehensive arts integration, bringing critical thinking, creativity, and innovation into the classroom through arts-based programs.
Say you are with the Portland Children’s Film Festival when you check in at the front desk and you will receive half price admission to the admission which includes all activities.
Families will always find welcoming staff and worlds to explore at the Portland Museum of Art, but PMA Family Days are uniquely devoted to those with young children. Grab an interactive family guide to the museum. Look, listen, and share during gallery talks designed especially for kids and their adults. Make your own art through individual and collaborative projects at PMA Pop-Up Studios. Keep your eyes open for special guests and collaborators from the Maine community. PMA Family Days have something for all ages and interests, and remember—children 12 and under always get into the PMA for free. Come when you want, and stay as long as you want. Let’s have some fun.
