PMA Family Day: "Photography: Real, Imaginary, and In-Between"

Bring your little shutterbugs to July's PMA Family Day, which centers on photography-based activities—from crafts to games to gallery tours and more. Smile for the camera, everyone!

PHOTO COLLAGES AT THE PMA POP-UP STUDIO
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Create photo art by combining vintage and contemporary images into assemblages. We'll use a variety of materials to cut, layer, paste, and explore how images can come together to create new and fantastic worlds. Bring a photo of yourself, family, or pet to give your art a personal touch.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S SCAVENGER HUNT
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Using your own smartphone or digital camera—or with a borrowed iPad from the Visitor Experience Desk—you can search the museum and try to capture all the items on our Photographer’s Scavenger Hunt to win a special prize. Post your best photos on Instagram (are you following the PMA?) and make sure to tag #PtldMuseumofArt

FAMILY GALLERY TOUR: PHOTOGRAPHY NOW AND THEN
10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Join one of our expert docents for an all-ages tour through photographs in the PMA collection, from now and from the past. Visit the celebrated exhibition Rose Marasco: index, which features the work of Portland photographer Rose Marasco. Learn the secrets of photography, make connections between different photos, and discover optical illusions.  The tour is appropriate for ages 4 years and up.
