Members are invited to an exclusive preview of "You Can't Get There From Here: The 2015 Portland Museum of Art Biennial" before it opens to the public on October 8. This exhibition highlights Maine’s artistic legacies in the making, featuring established artists with strong Maine ties as well as the first major institutional appearance for several young, emerging artists—showcasing the next wave of Maine artists and affording them the opportunity to make initial introductions to national art audiences.
Come to the PMA and shop to your heart's content at Sweet Art—a collaborative pop-up shop by the PMA and MECA. Famed illustrator and MECA professor Scott Nash has asked his students to create an entire product line for the PMA store, and it will be available for two weeks only, through February 22!
This summer, the PMA is teaming up with the Portland Public Library’s Brown Bag Lecture Series to offer three afternoons of literature, art, and discussion. Portland Public Library’s Brown Bag Lecture Series features reading and question-and-answer sessions with authors from Maine and afar. On these select Wednesdays, start at the Library and join the author lectures, then head to the PMA for free admission and a tour of works that relate to the themes in the books. Conversation continues with tea and cookies at the PMA Café.
