Indian Music and Dance Performance by Rangeela
East meets West when the Portland Museum of Art hosts a musical/dance performance by Rangeela, award-winning Sufi folk musicians and a gypsy dancer from the city of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, India. Reminiscent of the fabled caravan routes of desert India, Rangeela’s infectious rhythms spring from 36 generations of musicians who have performed for Rajput maharajas and at temple festivals, where Muslim musicians, Hindu devotion, and rich local culture blended with invigorating results. The Auditorium will open at 1:30 p.m. for first-come, first-served seating.
Presented in cooperation with Folk Arts Rajasthan and made possible through the generous support of Barbara Goodbody.
